Conversation with Maddie

As we were leaving school today, Maddie expressed great frustration that the BOYS had a special health class today, and that the GIRLS would not have the special health class until next week.

(For those of you who don't remember 5th grade, this is the 'Our Changing Bodies' or whatever the heck they call it these days).

Maddie told me, with great frustration "Now the boys will know EVERYTHING and the girls won't know ANYTHING until next week."

My assurances that the boys truly do not yet know EVERYTHING were not in the least bit reassuring to her.

After hearing her huff and puff about it for 15 minutes or so, I finally said to her "Maddie, I'll be happy to tell you whatever you want to know. What do you want to know?"

Maddie quickly fell silent. After a few minutes of quiet deliberation, she calmly said "That's okay. I'm good."

Ha ha ha. Funny girl.

Our first broken bone

And no surprise that it's CoCo!

How did I ever manage?

Maddie went on a field trip a few weeks ago, and left me these detailed instructions to care for her hamster.

It makes me wonder how I ever managed without her!

Catching Up

It seems like a thousand years since I have posted. There is no way that I can catch up now, so I'm just posting some random pictures from the past 2 months.

Spring is DEFINITELY here! YAY!

The Mayor is looking for bugs and birds!

Dying Easter Eggs

Hunting for eggs.

Easter at Mrs. Amanda's mom's house

These girls spent the afternoon playing with a tiny little inch worm named "Squishy."

I'm not sure where Owen plans to sled, but he seems pretty focused.

Getting ready for the big egg hunt!

These guys showed up as the kids were looking for eggs. I can finally answer the question -- the EGGS CAME FIRST! Heh!

And, the highlight of our spring is the arrival of baby Leena. Here she is with her grandmother (can you believe that young woman is a grandmother!!!).

You may have noticed that Maddie is missing from these pictures. She has reached a grumpy, scowling, pre-teen stage where she refuses to be in pictures. The few that I've managed to sneak just make her look even grumpier. I hope that she's smiling again soon!
